And here it is, as I promised, my post devoted to one of the 7 wonders of the modern world: Petra. First chapter HERE.

I had dreamed it, wanted it  I was and I’m completely fascinated.

The entrance to the city excavated in stone costs about 50 dinars, more or less 65 euros. A high expense, however, is definitely worth it.

If you choose to travel with the Mistral Tour Operator (Quality Group), the ticket will be included in the travel package.

Petra is an archaeological site that extends for km and km. Personally, I have traveled 15 and in every small step I have been accompanied by the feeling of wonder and amazement. The site hosting over 800 monuments.

There are so many places to stop … but let’s start from the Siq, a gorge that reaches at the narrowest point two meters. Natural conformation made with  the most beautiful shades of red earth.

The Treasury of Petra

After a couple of km (for disabled, you can go with little gig) you can see the Treasury, the most famous façade excavated in the rock to be the eternal rest of a Nabatean king in I sec A.C.

As soon as I ‘ve seen the facade I wanted to go back and wait to empty my mind and fill it exclusively with what I would have faced before.

Obviously I did not resist, I opened my eyes and began to smile. I could not believe where this space, my stories … my work as “ballad singer” had brought me.

A chaos made of camels, Bedouins selling everything and more, horses, calamas, tourists, kiosks and so many curious eyes … interrupted exclusively by the magic of the perfection of one of the 7 wonders of the modern world.

I wanted to stay, but the tour has to go on. It’s probably a good idea to spend two days at Petra’s visit … it’s really great and has an atmosphere that has to be tasted to the full.

We continue with the real tombs, a mint tea prepared by the deserted Bedouins (some still live here), banquets filled with fossils, stones and jewels.

Not to mention the Kajal, the Bedouins used it and use it to sterilize the eyes and protect them from the dust of the desert. Their gaze is so intense that you are lost in fixing it ….

The Monastery

Here we go again, after a humus lunch, direction: the Monastery. To reach this real tomb you must climb a mountain made of steep steps and rock spurs. The top view really makes you feel at the top of the world.

The night at Petra falls shortly and the Bedouins have to go back to their village a few miles from the archaeological site. The ocher treasure has become pink.

Time to rest in one of the most starry nights I remember.

Little Petra

In the morning with the fresh air of the highest areas of Jordan we head to Little Petra. A short but very pleasant stop on the notes of rababa (a musical instrument created by Bedouins).

Dead Sea

It takes us a few hours to get to the Dead Sea. Clothing in February-March must necessarily be like an “onion”.

During the Petra nights, the duvet was necessary, reaching the Dead Sea at -273 meters above sea level, the swim suite is a must.

I can not explain the feeling of relaxation I felt breathing the atmosphere of this geographic area located a few miles from Jerusalem.

It is said that the air is full of oxygen-rich bromide, a feeling of natural well-being.

The group floats at sunset in front of my eyes, I blend the heart of happiness … I finally have the time to savor and shoot.

Then , I tried the same water in the Marriot spa; Even those who do not know how to swim will float!

The last dinner has the smell of summer, on a terrace overlooking the sea. Everything is surreal: that is not a sea and it is not summer but winter.

Here all year is like this: pure wellness.

The salt kisses the shores of the lake and makes it white white, during daylight the blue is blinding!

I still do not have enough time to visit one of the most beautiful lands I have ever seen, now it is time to return to Italy on the wings of a plane of Royal Jordanian, the flagship company, one of the most punctual and safe in the world and the only one from Italy  to Amman (in some periods of the year). Thanks to the special deal made with Alitalia, although you are not in Rome ( but in another italian town), you can make a single ticket covering the entire route.

I had my taste of Jordan, I loved her with all my heart and the promise is that I’ll be back, I’m sure.
